Professional experience

Dr Ieehyok Woo qualified as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in 2007, in addition to his speciality in general adult psychiatry. Since then, he has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Generic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (‘CAMHS’), CAMHS Learning Disability Services and Adolescent Crisis Teams in both London and Greater London.

Throughout his career, he has developed specialised interests in young people with complex neurodevelopmental manifestations, such as ADHD and Autism, and the impact these conditions can have upon subsequent difficulties in developing one’s identity and adapting to social situations. He has developed expertise in treating accompanying disorders commonly associated with neurodivergence, such as OCD, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, Depression and General Anxiety Disorders.

Personal Approach

I initially trained as a neuropsychiatrist and, in my clinical work, I became interested in the psychological aspects of neurological/psychological conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes. After years of training and work with adult patients, I turned my attention to working with children and families whose lives were significantly affected by psychological and neurodivergent presentations. I strongly believe that a proper assessment for differential diagnoses and exploring suitable treatment options will lead to appropriate supportive plans, including environmental modifications at home and schools/universities.

• Degree of Medicine

• Member of British Psychoanalytical Society

• Training analyst for the Association of Child Psychotherapists

Dr Woo works on Fridays at his Ellesmere Clinic and on Saturdays in a remote setting. He practices psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in the NW11 area.
